DO [/duː/]

Dementia is a disease that affects not only the person himself but also their loved ones. It erases memories, hobbies and habits that are dear to us. The person himself gradually disappears from within. Social ties and personality break down. As the patient's condition worsens, he has to be taken care of by relatives or, if they are unable to do so, by care institutions. Eventually, a person becomes part of dementia statistics. This collection was inspired not only by painful stories but also by personal experience. My great grandmother had Alzheimer’s, a type of dementia. A person who was sharp-witted and energetic was quickly disappearing, and family members didn’t know how to help to restore her former routine at least partially. I therefore created a kit for people who deal with this disease. DO [/ duː /] is a set of sensory devices designed to slow the progression of early and middle stage of dementia. Each object in the set represents a different action: piercing, twisting, inserting, pressing, putting down and beating. It allows to experience different sensations that stimulate the brain and help a person feel better. It is the stimulated brain activity that slows down the course of the disease and at the same time elevates the mental and psychological state of the patient. Tasks reminiscent of normal household chores (hanging clothes, ringing the bell, sorting waste, etc.) are stress-free, help to focus, develop fine motor skills and make the person feel valued and needed.
